WE Thinkers!
WE Thinkers!
This program is designed to help learners with average, to way above average language and learning ability to develop the skills they need to be flexible social thinkers and social problem solvers. Each session focuses on evidenced based concepts establishing a common social vocabulary for children.
What is Social Thinking?
It is the complicated mental math we do to combine our understanding of the situation, our collective social expectations which then relate to our thoughts, the thoughts of others, our behaviours, the behaviour of others, and all the attendant reactions into every human interaction.
WE Thinkers! Social Explorers Volume 1 helps children build foundational social competencies and essential life skills through stories, lessons and play activities.
Topics Include:
- Thinking Thoughts and Feeling Feelings
- The Group Plan
- Thinking with your Eyes
- Body in the Group
- Whole Body Listening
WE Thinkers! Social Problem Solving Volume 2 goes deeper and begins to explore concepts related to social executive functioning skills that will help the learners to understand “hidden rules”.
Topics Include:
- The Hidden Rules and Expected and Unexpected Behaviours
- Smart Guess
- Flexible and Stuck Thinking
- Size of the Problem
- Sharing An Imagination
The We Thinkers! program is available to primary school aged children and will be run by Spear & Arrow Therapeutic Specialist Chantelle Ryan (NDIS funded).
